How do I prepare for my Carpet Cleaning job?
We ask that all small and/or light weight items are removed from the floor prior to our arrival. We also require that all items be removed from tables, etc that are to be moved by Regal Carpet & Upholstery Cleaning Employees. We attempt to move furniture within reason in order to do as thorough a job as possible. After replacing furniture to damp carpet we place cardboard tabs or styrofoam blocks under furniture legs or bases in order to keep it off the carpet until dry. These can be removed by the customer within a few hours.
How Long will my carpet be damp after being cleaned?
Carpet usually takes about 2 to 3 hours to dry. The time can vary depending on the humidity level as well as the availability of air conditioning and other air movement. On our average job, the first area cleaned is almost dry by the time we are done.
What method of Carpet Cleaning does Regal Carpet & Upholstery Cleaning use?
At Regal Carpet & Upholstery Cleaning our main method of Carpet Cleaning is Truck Mounted Hot Water Extraction or as many people know it as “steam cleaning”. This method is used most every time on residential carpet. For Commercial Carpet we utilize the Hot Water Extraction method as well as a Low Moisture Encapsulation Interim Maintenance method. Hot Water Extraction (Steam Cleaning) is the only method that is endorsed by the major carpet manufacturing mills. (This is not our opinion, but fact).

How often should I vacuum my carpet?
Of course this depends primarily on how much foot traffic the overall rooms get. As a rule of thumb all carpet residential carpet should be vacuumed at least once a week and high traffic areas at least twice a week. Carpet in commercial environments should be vacuumed daily. Even when carpet does not appear to need a vacuuming there is soil in the carpet and walking on the surface creates a sand paper like condition to the fibers slowing damaging the carpet. Frequent vacuuming is by far the best way for you to extend the life and improve the appearance of the carpet. Installing new carpet can be costly and disruptive.
How Often should I get my carpet professionally cleaned?
Industry recommendations say that your carpet should be cleaned every 6 to 12 months. We believe that it is more dependent on factors such as how much traffic does the carpet get, do you walk on the carpet in street shoes often and if you have pets. Once you see areas becoming soiled that simple vacuuming will not correct it is time to have you carpets cleaned. Doing so earlier rather than later will improve the look and extend the life of your carpet before it’s too late.
What are those ugly black lines around my baseboard and doorways?
These ugly black lines are called filtration soil. It is caused by airflow over and through the carpet, allowing soil to settle on the surface. It is caused by insufficient ventilation and/or dirty filters in the ventilation system. Excessive air then seeks exit sources through gaps along doors and moldings. To prevent of reduce the chances of filtration line soiling you will need to change filters on your system regularly, vacuum these areas more often with crevice tool and leaving doors open from time to time to improve air flow in these areas.
How can I get rid of furniture indentations in my carpet?
Depending on the weight of the furniture and how long it was in one place as well as the type of carpet you have will make the difference between permanent or removable dents. To correct these dents move the carpet pile back into place with your fingers as much as possible, dampen the area with water and heat it with a hair dryer while working the fibers back into place with you fingers.

Why does my Carpet buckle?
Wrinkles, ripples and buckles in carpet are most often caused by a failure to power stretch the carpet by the installer or excessive temperature and/or humidity in the air. If these buckles develop, contact your local carpet retailer and usually this can be corrected by a power stretching.
Why did my carpet look dirtier after the last Carpet Cleaning Company was here?
Carpets dry from the bottom up, water evaporating off the top, pulling moisture from the bottom. Water wicks up the carpet fiber like candle wax climbs up a wick. When there is too much dry soil after the hot water extraction cleaning, the water can pull the soil to the top of the fiber as it evaporates. What you are now looking at is the soil that was in the bottom of the carpet. A thorough dry pre-vacuuming can reduce or prevent this from happening.
