At Regal Carpet & Upholstery Cleaning we also specialize in the cleaning of domestic & fine quality area rugs. We offer 2 methods of Oriental & Area Rug cleaning.
The primary consideration in determining what method to be used would be the cost of the area rug. This is because we understand that the less you paid for a rug the less you should spend cleaning and maintaining that rug. We also take into consideration other factors such as the soil and odor condition of the rug prior to cleaning, how well the fiber and texture will respond to the different types of cleaning as well as other factors. We advise you of what is in your best interest, not ours.
For rugs of lesser value (a few hundred dollars) we usually recommend the Hot Water Extraction Method of cleaning. This method of cleaning is described on the Carpet Cleaning page of this website.
For rugs that are of greater value we recommend In-Plant Rug Cleaning. They should not be cleaned on location like wall to wall carpet. Regal Carpet and Upholstery Cleaning cares for the finest area rugs from around the globe. We will pick your rug up and bring it to our cleaning plant where we will utilize our very thorough 10 Step Cleaning Process to get maximum soil and spot removal. Having your rug cleaned in our location allows us to give it several treatments for a more deeper clean, controlled drying, and the use of tools that cannot be brought to your home. Below are the steps we go through when we do the deep in-plant cleaning of your area rugs.
Step 1: Pre-Inspection and Pick Up
We will ask you a few questions about the rug over the phone, come to your home for an inspection and give you our best idea of the results you can expect. We will then roll the rug up and take it back to our shop.
Step 2: Dry Soil Removal
All Area Rugs, or any textile for that matter must be dry vacuumed prior to applying any cleaning solutions or moisture. This is the most important step in cleaning any textile.
Step 3: PreCondition
Depending on fiber content and soiling, we will pre-treat your area rug to emulsify the soil.
Step 4: Pre-Spot and Fringe Preparation
Any potentially difficult spots will be pre-treated with special solutions to increase chances of removal. The fringe is also pre-treated for maximum soil removal.
Step 5: Wash
After pre-treating your area rug we place in the cleaning machine and a series of jets pass back and forth apply a cleaning solution across the rug flushing deeply embedded soil. This can be adjusted depending on how delicate a rug may be.
Step 6: Rinse
A fresh water rinse now removes loose soil and cleaning solutions for your rug.
Step 7: Excess Water Removal
After the rug completes the cleaning process it goes through a pressure roller system in order to remove as much excess water.
Step 8: Hang Dry
Rugs are hung in our temperature and humidity controlled dry room
Step 9: Grooming & Re-Vacuuming
When your rug is completely dry we my need to groom and/or re-vacuum it in order to produce best appearance and remove any loose line.
Step 10: Wrap & Deliver
Rugs are now rolled and wrapped in for safe delivery back to your home.
Included in the price of your rug cleaning we will also return the rug to your home and place it in the location of your choice
